The Sullivan Award
The Sullivan Award honours the extraordinary legacy of Marina Sullivan, a pioneer of cheerleading in Newfoundland and Labrador. This award recognizes individuals of any age who embody Marina’s unwavering commitment, leadership, and passion for cheerleading. It serves as a tribute to her dedication to the sport, her advocacy for equality, and her profound impact on athletes, coaches, and the cheerleading community as a whole.
Generously provided by her living family, each year, The Sullivan Award will be presented to an individual who demonstrates Marina’s spirit—someone who goes above and beyond to foster growth, inclusivity, and excellence in cheerleading.
Nomination Criteria
Nominees should exemplify the following qualities that defined Marina Sullivan’s legacy:
Leadership & Mentorship – Demonstrates outstanding leadership, guiding and inspiring others within the cheerleading community.
Dedication & Commitment – Shows exceptional dedication to the growth and development of cheerleading in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Innovation & Advocacy – Pushes the boundaries of the sport through innovation, advocacy, or program development.
Inclusivity & Sportsmanship – Promotes inclusivity, teamwork, and a positive culture within the cheerleading community.
Long-Term Impact – Leaves a lasting impact on athletes, coaches, or the cheerleading community through mentorship, program building, or trailblazing efforts.
Nominees may be athletes, coaches, program builders, or advocates who have significantly contributed to cheerleading at the school, club, or provincial level.
Nomination Process
Nominations may be submitted by athletes, coaches, program directors, or community members.
A nomination package should include:
A completed nomination form.
A letter of recommendation detailing the nominee’s contributions and how they embody Marina Sullivan’s legacy.
Optional: Supporting materials such as testimonials, photos, or media articles.

JUDGING PROCESS
The selection committee, composed of representatives from cheerNL and the Sullivan family, will review all nominations.
