COACH REQUIREMENTS
According to Cheer Canada*, all coaches on your roster (incl: coaches in training/assistant coaches/junior coaches/etc.) must have:
Membership with Cheer Canada, renewed annually
Membership with Provincial Sports Organization (i.e. cheerNL), renewed annually
Valid First Aid & CPR
Valid Criminal Record Check & Vulnerable Sector Check completed within current competition season (coaches 18+). Clarification: CRC is valid for 1 season, VSC is valid for 1 calendar year.
Cheer Canada Technical Coaching Courses (Please note: courses are available up to Level 7. Please complete the course up to and including the level you are coaching. Technical courses are valid for 3 years.)
SportNL/NCCP courses according to your level (as noted below)

Emergency Action Planning
Safe Sport Training
Understanding the Rule of Two

* This course is completed online with a live instructor. Limited class capacities, so book early through SportNL*

COMPLETE 4 of 7 of the following*:
Developing Athletic Abilities
Performance Planning
Psychology of Performance
Prevention and Recovery
Advanced Practice Planning
Coach & Leading Effectively
Managing Conflict
(These courses can be accessed through NCCP when you set up your free account)
*Coaches for Team Canada Premier require all 7 of the courses
Please note: courses for Level 3/Median & higher is required no later than October 2026.
